January 28-30, 2011 at Summitt Lake Christian Retreat center in Emmitsburgh, MD! The Winter Chill theme this year is “Compelled by Love.”

From August 9-14, 2010, our team of 16 high school students and adult leaders embarked on a mission to some of the most dangerous parts of inner city Baltimore. We worked on the streets, prayed on the porches of residents, and ministered in the parks. Overall, we saw God move on others, and experienced His move in our own hearts.

Susan German, long time youth volunteer, shared, “This is the best thing we [Apex Youth] have ever done!” Her sentiment was certainly shared by the rest of the group. In the words of 16 year old Marriotts Ridge High School Student, Jessica Hare, “It was just, like, insane… I mean, God is just insane!” She meant “insane” in the best way possible because God really did blow us away!

Among our many projects throughout the week, the team took part in repurposing the playground in Madison Square Park on Caroline Street, street clean up on and around North Avenue and Sinclair Lane at Clifton Park, daily children’s ministry, daily door to door evangelism, and dramas throughout the evening services. We ever cooked and served food at two big block parties for the neighborhoods we ministered in!
